The cousins qualified for their third-straight FIVB World Championships via the FIVB World Tour ranking process. The Grimalts posted a 33rd at the 2013 FIVB World Championships followed by a 17th in 2015 in The Netherlands. As one of eight men’s team in the 2017 event with 40 or more participations on the FIVB World Tour, the Grimalts have advanced to gold medal matches twice before losing in the 2014 finals at Paraná (Argentina) and Mangaung (South Africa). The cousins have also represented Chile in two PanAm Games highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 2015 Toronto competition where the Grimalts lost “final four” matches to Rio Olympic pairs Lombardo Ontiveros/Juan Virgen of Mexico and Nivaldo Diaz/Sergio Gonzalez of Cuba
